Shane L. Windmeyer and his partner Tom Feldman have lived in Charlotte, for more than 12 years. Windmeyer has worn many hats and led many local efforts serving the LGBT community over the years. However, Windmeyer is most known across the country as a leading author on gay campus issues, national leader in gay and lesbian civil rights and a champion for LGBT issues on college campuses. He is also the founder and Executive Director of Campus Pride (www.CampusPride.org), the Charlotte-based national organization for student leaders and campus groups working to create a safer college environment for LGBT students. The organization serves over a thousand colleges and universities per year and is hailed as the leading national organization for LGBT and ally college issues.

Released in fall 2006, Windmeyer is author of “The Advocate College Guide for LGBT Students,” the first-ever college guide profiling the 100 Best LGBT-Friendly Campuses. He is also the editor of several other books and training manuals about gay life on college campuses.
Windmeyer has been featured on IN THE LIFE TV and you may have event seen him last year as a guest on MSNBC’s The Situation with Tucker Carlson. His work has also been featured nationally in The New York Times and many other LGBT and mainstream publications.

Windmeyer will share with the CBG audience his program THE TIME IS NOW speaking about the important work of Campus Pride, the role of youth in our national LGBT movement, and why we must support our future LGBT and ally leaders – young adults – locally and nationally.

In honor of the work that Campus Pride is doing on college campuses throughout the country, the Charlotte Business Guild is encouraging attendees to wear their favorite school shirts and caps. Go Team! Show your Pride and wear your school colors to this event.
